The front bumper cover (also called the front fascia or front bumper skin) is the molded plastic panel that wraps the front of the vehicle, covering the underlying steel or aluminum bumper reinforcement bar and energy absorber foam. The bumper cover serves multiple purposes: it provides the front end's visual styling and color matched appearance, houses fog lights and grille openings, accommodates parking sensors and forward facing cameras, channels airflow into the radiator, and protects the underlying structural bumper from minor impacts (parking taps, light fender benders, road debris). Our used Mitsubishi Montero Sport front bumper cover is OEM grade polypropylene (PP) or ABS plastic with pre drilled mounting holes and molded tabs that align with factory mounting points for direct bolt in installation, no fabrication required. The fog light cutouts accommodate OEM fog light assemblies, sensor cutouts match factory locations on trims equipped with them, and the tow hook access door is preserved.
Mitsubishi's Montero Sport history in the US is shorter than the global model run. The 1st generation Montero Sport (K90 platform) was sold in the US from 1997 to 2004 as a midsize body on frame SUV. After 2004, Mitsubishi discontinued the Montero Sport in the US market. The 2nd generation (2008 to 2015 globally) and 3rd generation (2015+ globally, branded as Pajero Sport in most markets and as Montero Sport in some Latin American markets) were never officially imported to the US. So if you have a 2016 model year 'Montero Sport' in the United States, one of the following is likely true: (1) it is a grey market import, (2) it was purchased in Puerto Rico, Mexico, or another market where the Montero Sport was sold, or (3) you may actually have a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, which is a completely different smaller crossover (called RVR or ASX in other markets) that has been sold in the US continuously since 2010. The Outlander Sport and Montero Sport have very different front bumpers despite the similar names. Call (240) 301-0095 with your VIN and we will confirm which vehicle you have and which bumper cover fits.
Installation is straightforward with basic tools. Standard procedure is to remove the inner fender liner clips, the headlight retaining bolts (sometimes), the lower splash shield, then the bumper cover mounting bolts. The cover lifts off after disconnecting any sensor or fog light wiring harnesses. Installation reverses the process. Most DIY mechanics complete the swap in 1 to 2 hours. The cover ships in raw molded color (typically black) and requires color match painting at a body shop unless you find a salvage match for your existing factory paint.
