The Ford Aerostar pressure plate is the clutch cover that bolts to the flywheel and clamps the clutch disc against it, engaging and disengaging the engine from a manual transmission as you work the clutch pedal. A worn pressure plate shows up as slipping, chatter, or a clutch that will not release cleanly. This is a used pressure plate inspected for its diaphragm spring, friction surface, and rivets.
Because the pressure plate is part of the manual-transmission clutch, it only applies to Aerostars built with a manual gearbox, and most Aerostars were automatic. Confirm your van actually has a manual and tell us the clutch diameter and spline count. Since the transmission has to come out to reach it, replacing the clutch disc and throwout bearing at the same time is strongly recommended.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Slipping | The clutch slips under load even with pedal released. |
| Chatter | Shudder or grab as the clutch engages. |
| Poor release | Hard shifting or a clutch that will not fully release. |

This Ford Aerostar pressure plate is offered for the following:
| Vehicle | Compatibility |
|---|---|
| Manual-transmission Aerostar | Pressure plate, by clutch size |
| Confirm manual gearbox | Most Aerostars were automatic |
A pressure plate fits only a manual-transmission Aerostar, and the manual was offered on a limited basis while most vans were automatic. Confirm your van has a manual and the clutch diameter and spline at order before shipping.

This is a used clutch component inspected for diaphragm spring condition, a flat friction surface free of heat scoring, and sound rivets. Because the transmission must come out to fit it, replace the clutch disc and throwout bearing at the same time and resurface the flywheel.
