This is the 5.7L HEMI V8 with 48V eTorque, the base powerplant that gives the Jeep Wagoneer its full-size SUV power. It is a gasoline engine with hemispherical combustion chambers, an OHV 16-valve layout, aluminum cylinder heads, and variable cam timing, paired with a 48V eTorque belt-driven starter-generator that adds torque assist, smooth stop-start, and regenerative braking. MDS cylinder deactivation shuts down cylinders under light load for better economy, and the engine drives through an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic. It makes about 392 hp and 404 lb-ft and tows up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.
