Description

Audi RS3 Antenna for Sale, Restore Full Infotainment Reception and Stop Roof Leaks

The shark fin antenna on the Audi RS3 is the single point of contact between four important infotainment services and the outside world. AM/FM radio reception, GPS navigation, Audi Connect cellular data and SiriusXM satellite radio all route through this one assembly. When the antenna fails, multiple services drop out at once. Even worse, the most common failure mode is roof water leak from a degraded gasket, which not only kills antenna reception but also causes water damage to the headliner, the dome light wiring, and eventually the body computer wiring under the headliner.

A verified used Audi RS3 antenna restores full infotainment reception and stops roof leaks at a fraction of new dealer pricing. We inspect every assembly: housing condition, gasket integrity, cable connector cleanliness, mounting tab integrity, and paint condition where body-color. We can color-match to your VIN paint code if needed.

Get your RS3 infotainment back to factory function with a tested antenna today.

Product Overview

The Audi RS3 antenna is an integrated shark-fin assembly mounted at the rear roof position. The plastic housing has an aerodynamic shark-fin profile designed to minimize air noise at highway speed. Inside the housing are multiple antenna elements for different radio services: a planar AM/FM antenna element, a GPS patch antenna (positioned to see the sky), a cellular antenna for the LTE/4G band used by Audi Connect, and a SiriusXM satellite radio antenna.

The base of the antenna has a single threaded stud that passes through the roof panel and is secured with a nut on the underside (accessed by partially dropping the headliner). A gasket between the antenna base and the roof panel seals against water intrusion. Multiple coaxial cables exit the base of the antenna and drop into the headliner area, routing to the radio head unit, the MMI navigation computer, the telematics module and the satellite radio tuner.

4 reviews for AUDI RS3 ANTENNA FOR SALE

  1. Eric Donovan

Antenna gasket on my 2018 RS3 (Nardo Gray) had failed and was leaking water onto the headliner. Vaz had a body-color matched antenna in stock for an 8V, paint code confirmed against my VIN before shipping. Replacement with fresh gasket took about 45 minutes. All infotainment services back to factory: FM static-free, GPS lock immediate, SiriusXM clean, Audi Connect activated on first try. Color match is perfect, looks factory. Solid value.

  2. Priya Sharma

Got a black antenna for my 2023 RS3 (Daytona Gray). Vaz confirmed 8Y generation specifically vs 8V which they were careful about. Antenna arrived clean, housing in good shape, gasket looked fresh. One star off because the housing has very slight surface wear that is consistent with a used part but a tiny bit more visible than the photo suggested. Functionally everything works perfectly.

  3. Steve Collins (verified owner)

The Audi RS3 Antenna I bought from Vaz Auto Solutions is fantastic! The reception has drastically improved, and it was surprisingly simple to install. It’s sleek and complements the look of my vehicle perfectly. Definitely recommend it for anyone needing a reliable upgrade. Five stars for Vaz Auto Solutions!

  4. Tom Harris (verified owner)

I ended up purchasing the Audi RS3 Antenna from Vaz Auto Solutions. It’s decent and does the job, but it’s not a night-and-day difference in terms of reception for me. It looks good on the car, though, and feels sturdy enough. If you’re in need of a replacement, this one will get the job done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will an Audi A3 or S3 antenna fit my RS3?

In some cases yes. The Audi A3, S3 and RS3 share the same platform (8V or 8Y depending on year) and the higher-equipment A3 and S3 trims with full infotainment package (MMI navigation, Audi Connect, SiriusXM) may use the same antenna part number as the RS3. Lower-equipment A3 trims with reduced infotainment may use a simpler antenna without all integrated functions. Cross-reference must be verified with the original Audi part number. Call (240) 301-0095 with your VIN.

How do I install the antenna?

Installation overview: (1) Disconnect battery negative terminal. (2) Open the rear doors and pull down the rear edge of the headliner enough to access the antenna mounting nut. The full headliner does not need to come down, just the rear portion. (3) Disconnect the coaxial cable plugs from the antenna base. (4) Unscrew the mounting nut from the antenna stud. (5) Lift the antenna off the roof (you may need to apply gentle upward pressure to release the gasket from the roof panel). (6) Clean the roof mounting area thoroughly. (7) Install fresh gasket on the new antenna. (8) Place the new antenna in position on the roof, threading the stud through. (9) Reconnect coaxial cables to the new antenna base. (10) From inside, install and torque the mounting nut to specification (about 5 to 8 Nm, do not over-tighten or you will crack the housing). (11) Restore headliner. (12) Reconnect battery. Total time 30 to 90 minutes.

Do I need a new gasket?

Yes, strongly recommended. The gasket is cheap (typically under $10 from Audi parts) and is the single most important part of preventing future roof leaks. The original gasket is compressed and set in shape after years of use, and reusing it after install almost always results in a leak. Order a fresh gasket from your Audi dealer or specialty parts supplier at the same time as the antenna and replace at install.

What is the difference between body-color and black antennas?

Cosmetic only. Functionally they are identical. The body-color antenna has its plastic housing painted to match the vehicle paint code at the factory (typically with primer, color coat and clearcoat) so that it visually blends with the roof. The black antenna is a flat or satin black plastic finish. Body-color is more common on darker vehicles where the visual difference between body-color and black is less, and black is more common on lighter vehicles or as a sport accent. Choose the color that matches your existing antenna and roof color.

My RS3 antenna is leaking. How do I confirm it is the gasket?

Park the car in a covered location and wet the roof area around the antenna with a garden hose for several minutes. Then have someone inside the car watch the area around the dome light and the rear roof headliner for any visible water dripping or staining. If water appears, the antenna gasket is leaking. Other less common roof leak sources include sunroof drains (if equipped) and rear windshield seal, but the antenna gasket is by far the most common roof leak on cars with shark fin antennas.

My RS3 lost GPS lock but FM radio still works. Is it the antenna?

Possibly. Individual antenna element failure within the integrated assembly can affect one service while leaving others working. If GPS is dead but FM radio works, the GPS antenna element specifically has failed or the GPS coaxial cable connector has corroded. Other GPS-specific causes include the MMI navigation computer itself or the GPS cable harness running from the antenna to the navigation computer. A scan tool diagnosis at an Audi specialist can pinpoint whether the fault is at the antenna or downstream.

How does shipping work?

Free shipping to all 50 US states. The antenna weighs 0.5 to 1 lb and ships in a padded box via UPS or FedEx Ground. Typical transit is 3 to 7 business days from order confirmation. The shark fin profile is protected with foam padding to prevent transit damage to the housing or paint.

Can I install just an AM/FM aftermarket antenna and skip the RS3 OEM?

For AM/FM reception only, yes, basic stub antennas work. However, you would lose GPS positioning for MMI navigation, Audi Connect cellular services and SiriusXM satellite radio reception. The integrated OEM antenna is the only way to retain all four services at OEM quality. For an RS3 owner who values the full infotainment experience, OEM antenna replacement is the right path.

Product Warranty

15 Day Replacement Warranty. Covered: defects discovered at delivery (cracked housing on arrival, severely faded paint not disclosed prior to shipping, broken mounting tabs at receipt, failed cable continuity at first bench check). Not covered: damage from improper installation including over-tightened mounting nut that cracks housing, damage from omitted fresh gasket that allows roof leak, normal cosmetic age signs consistent with a used part, color match variation that was disclosed before shipping (color verification photos strongly recommended), labor costs of any kind. Note: a fresh gasket is strongly recommended at install (cheap, prevents roof leaks). Verify your vehicle is the correct RS3 generation. Contact (240) 301-0095 within 15 days of delivery.
