About the Mercedes E-Class Dashboard
This is a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class dashboard. Before ordering, it is important to understand the Mercedes coupe model history because there is a model name conflict in the listing. The Mercedes ‘E-Class Coupe’ nameplate (referenced on the live page) did not exist for model years 2006 to 2009. During that era, the Mercedes coupe was called the CLK, on the W209 chassis (sold 2002 to 2009). The true E-Class Coupe (chassis C207) launched as a model year 2010 vehicle, replacing the CLK. So if you have a 2006 to 2009 Mercedes coupe, your vehicle is technically a CLK, not an E-Class Coupe. The dashboards between CLK W209 and other Mercedes platforms (W211 E-Class sedan, C207 E-Class Coupe, etc) are not interchangeable. The shapes, mounting points, instrument cluster cutouts, HVAC vents, and airbag deployment apertures differ between these chassis. Please call (240) 301-0095 with your VIN before ordering and we will confirm the actual donor vehicle and whether it matches yours.
Mercedes Coupe and E-Class Model History

- W211 E-Class Sedan/Wagon: 2003 to 2009 (sedan and wagon body styles, E350 was a trim)
- C207 E-Class Coupe: 2010 to 2017 (FIRST true ‘E-Class Coupe’ nameplate, replaced the CLK)
C238 E-Class Coupe: 2018 to 2023
W212 E-Class Sedan: 2010 to 2016
W213 E-Class Sedan: 2017 to 2023
Dashboard Features and Construction
Mercedes dashboards are engineered as structural assemblies that house the instrument cluster, infotainment screen, HVAC vents, passenger airbag deployment area, glove box, and various sensor and module mounting points. The dashboard core is typically a reinforced ABS plastic structure with a textured vinyl surface that has been heat formed to fit. The vinyl provides the soft touch interior aesthetic, while the ABS substrate provides structural integrity. The dashboard also features:
Molded defrost channels that route HVAC air to the windshield base
Glare reducing matte texture finish
- VIN notch (transparent window area for VIN visibility from outside the windshield)
Cutouts for instrument cluster, head unit, and HVAC controls
- Mounting points for the steering column trim, side vents, glove box, and passenger airbag
Channels for wiring harness routing
CRITICAL: Mercedes Dashboard Airbag Safety
Mercedes E-Class and CLK dashboards from this era have INTEGRATED PASSENGER AIRBAG systems. The passenger airbag is mounted in or behind the dashboard top surface and deploys upward and outward in a frontal impact. Some models also include knee airbags mounted below the dash. Working with airbag equipped dashboards requires specific safety procedures:
- DISCONNECT THE BATTERY at least 30 minutes before any dashboard work (allows SRS capacitors to discharge)
Do not strike, drop, or apply heat to airbag modules
- Static electricity can cause inadvertent deployment (work in static safe conditions)
Wear safety glasses and avoid being directly in front of any airbag
- If the donor unit included airbag modules, treat them as live deployment hazards
- Professional installation is strongly recommended due to airbag safety risk
