Power steering systems come in two fundamentally different designs: hydraulic and electric. Hydraulic power steering uses an engine driven pump (typically belt driven from the crankshaft) to pressurize hydraulic fluid that assists the driver's steering input through the rack and pinion. Electric power steering (EPS) eliminates the hydraulic pump entirely and instead uses an electric motor (mounted on either the steering column or directly on the rack) to provide steering assist on demand. EPS systems are more fuel efficient, more compact, and don't require fluid maintenance, which is why most modern vehicles 2010 onward have adopted EPS. The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport (and its global sibling, the Qashqai J11) uses electric power steering from the factory in US market trims. This means there is no engine driven hydraulic pump under the hood. If you have a 2017 Rogue Sport and you are experiencing steering issues, the failing component is almost certainly the EPS motor (mounted on the rack or column) or the steering rack itself, not a hydraulic pump. Replacing a hydraulic pump that doesn't exist on your vehicle won't solve your steering issue.
If you have confirmed by visual inspection (looking for a belt driven pump and fluid reservoir under the hood) that your vehicle has hydraulic power steering rather than EPS, then this used Rogue Sport hydraulic power steering pump may be the right part for your application. The pump features:
The Nissan Rogue Sport is the US market name for the Nissan Qashqai compact crossover. It was sold in the US from 2017 through 2022 (5 model years) before being discontinued. The Qashqai name continues to be used in global markets (Europe, Asia, Canada, etc). Both the Rogue Sport and Qashqai are mechanically identical, sharing the J11 platform (2014 to 2021 globally) or J12 platform (2021 onward globally). In the US, the only engine offered in the Rogue Sport was the MR20DD 2.0L inline-4 paired with a Jatco CVT (continuously variable transmission).
