Description

About This Engine

The Chevy 632 is the largest displacement big block V8 ever offered in a Chevrolet crate engine package. It produces 1,004 hp and 876 lb-ft of torque from 632 cubic inches of displacement, all naturally aspirated, all on 91 to 93 octane pump gas. No turbo. No supercharger. No nitrous. Just bore, stroke, head flow, and proper tuning. For drag racers, pro touring builders, and hot rodders chasing the highest numbers possible without forced induction, the 632 is the answer.

The bottom end is built around a forged steel crankshaft, heavy-duty forged connecting rods, and forged aluminum pistons in a 4-bolt main cast iron block. The 4.60 inch bore by 4.75 inch stroke combination is what unlocks the 632 cubic inch displacement and the torque curve that makes the engine drivable in a heavy car. High-flow aluminum cylinder heads and a high-rise single-plane intake manifold deliver the airflow needed to make over 1,000 horsepower without exotic fuel.

The Engine That Pulls a 3,500 lb Car Through the Quarter in the High 8s

The 632 is overkill for daily driving and that is the point. This is a build core, a finished show car powerplant, or a no-prep race engine. Drop it in a 1969 Camaro, a 1965 Chevelle, a Pro Mod hot rod, or a heavy-duty truck pulling a sled, and there is more than enough power for any application that does not need forced induction.

Why Builders Choose a Used 632

  • Cost saving over a brand-new ZZ632 crate motor of $10,000 or more
  • Already broken in, already proven to make power
  • Available now, no 12-week build wait time
  • Use the saved budget for a stronger transmission, fuel system, or chassis prep

What Is Included, What Is Not Included

INCLUDED Long block: block, forged crankshaft, forged rods, forged pistons, camshaft, heads, valve train, oil pan, intake manifold, valve covers, harmonic balancer. EFI fuel injection rails and throttle body where ordered EFI configuration.
NOT INCLUDED ECU and engine harness, exhaust headers, starter, alternator, A/C compressor, power steering pump, flexplate or flywheel, motor mounts.
Configuration Options EFI standard. Carbureted top end available on request, call to discuss. Partially dressed and fully dressed packages available.
Core Note No core charge. You are not required to return your old engine.

The 632 is a build engine, not a direct factory replacement, but it bolts to standard Chevy big block engine mount locations, BBC bell-housing, and BBC accessory drives. Common applications include:

Drag Race Cars 1967 to 1969 Camaro, 1968 to 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 to 1973 Trans Am, Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challenger
Muscle Car Restomods 1955 to 1957 Bel Air, 1962 to 1965 Impala SS, 1964 to 1972 Chevelle, 1967 to 1969 Firebird, 1971 to 1974 Charger
Street Rods and Hot Rods 1932 Ford, 1937 Chevy, Tri-Five Chevys, T-Bucket builds, custom roadsters
Trucks Chevy C10 (1967 to 1987), GMC C1500, Ford F-100 swap, Dodge D100 swap
Off-Road and Sand Custom buggies, sand rails, mud trucks
Pro Touring Builds Factory Five Cobra, Ultima GTR, custom kit cars rated for big block power

Not sure if this fits? Call (240) 301-0095 with your chassis, target horsepower goal, transmission, fuel system, and intended use. Our team will confirm bell-housing pattern, motor mount fit, and accessory drive setup before your order ships.

Every 632 we ship goes through this process:

  • Run on engine stand to confirm operation, oil pressure, and ignition timing
  • Compression test across all 8 cylinders, pressure per cylinder recorded
  • Visual inspection of block deck, head surfaces, and bottom end
  • Camshaft and lifter pre-load verified
  • Valve train inspection, lash and rocker geometry confirmed
  • Harmonic balancer and timing cover inspected for runout
  • Dyno sheet provided when available

Full inspection documentation is available on request before order confirmation.

4 reviews for Chevy 632 Crate Engine for Sale | Big Block V8 (10.35L)

  1. Mike Johnson (verified owner)

This Chevy 632 is a beast! Dropped it in my ’69 Camaro and it’s like riding a rocket. Huge power, smooth delivery. Vaz Auto Solutions shipped fast and packaged it well. Worth every penny!

  2. Sarah Miller (verified owner)

Impressed with the 632’s performance in my drag racer. Consistent power and reliability so far. Vaz Auto Solutions had the best price I could find. Only downside is it drinks gas like crazy, but that’s expected.

  3. Travis B., Lubbock TX

Was nervous spending this much on a used engine but the team at Vaz walked me through every spec, sent the dyno sheet, and confirmed BBC mount fit before I paid. Engine arrived perfectly. Tri-Five with a 632 is exactly the build I wanted. Worth every dollar.

  4. Carlos R., Phoenix AZ

I have built three big blocks before and this 632 is the most impressive Chevy crate motor I have ever bought. Vaz ran it on the stand, sent me oil pressure and compression numbers, and shipped it crated like a piece of glass. Made over 1,000 hp on my dyno on the first pull with my own tune. Chevelle runs 9.40s in the quarter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the 632 be used as a daily driver?

Yes, with the right supporting components. A 632 in a heavy chassis like a 1970 Chevelle is street-friendly when paired with a properly tuned EFI calibration, a TH400 or 4L80E with a moderate stall converter, 3.55 or 3.73 gears, and a quality fuel system. It is overkill for grocery runs but very drivable.

What octane fuel does the 632 require?

91 octane minimum, 93 octane preferred for stock tune. The 10.0:1 compression ratio is friendly to pump gas, which is one of the strengths of this build over higher-compression race engines that demand race fuel.

Can the 632 be customized?

Yes. Cam profile, head spec, EFI versus carb, intake choice, dressing level, accessory drive, and ignition can all be customized. Call (240) 301-0095 to discuss your specific build.

What transmission pairs best with the 632?

TH400 is the strongest classic GM automatic and is the most common pairing. 4L80E and 4L85E add overdrive for street use. For manuals, Tremec TKO 600 and Tremec Magnum 6-speed handle the torque. Call to discuss the right combination for your build.

How heavy is the 632 crate engine?

Approximately 700 to 770 lbs depending on dressing level. Plan your engine hoist, motor mounts, and chassis bracing accordingly.

Is this engine streetable in older vehicles like a 1969 Camaro?

Yes. With a proper rear gear, transmission, and cooling, the 632 fits classic muscle car platforms with standard BBC mount locations. Hood clearance with a high-rise intake should be confirmed before order, call us.

How does shipping work?

Free crated freight delivery to all 50 US states. Typical transit is 5 to 10 business days. We use specialty diesel and high-value engine carriers for an engine of this value.
