  1. Calogero Frangipane-Volpacchio

Came searching for ‘tailgate window regulator’ for my 2018 Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate after my driver front window stopped going up. Vaz immediately educated me on the double mismatch – G90 is sedan with no tailgate AND rear glass is fixed body glass with no regulator. They identified I needed driver front door window regulator. Sourced from a 2017 Genesis G90 3.3T donor (1st gen cross-reference, same door regulator). Smooth operation verified, motor function tested. Installed at my Genesis dealer

  2. Hedwig Konstantinovna-Yablonsky

Bought driver rear door window regulator for my 2024 Genesis G90 (3rd gen with 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 mild-hybrid – the new ‘two-line’ lighting design). Vaz emphasized the 3rd gen specifics and that my rear glass is fixed (not motorized) so any rear window issue is the door window not the back windshield. Sourced from a 2023 Genesis G90 donor (same 3rd gen). One star off because the 3rd gen 2023+ parts pool is still limited (newer vehicle, smaller donor availability) and sourcing took 18 days. The H

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't my G90 have a tailgate window regulator?

Two reasons your G90 doesn’t have such a component: (1) The G90 is a SEDAN with a trunk lid, not a tailgate – sedans don’t have tailgates at all. (2) Even if we consider ‘rear window’, the rear glass on a sedan is FIXED body glass (like the front windshield), it doesn’t move up and down. Window regulators are mechanisms that raise and lower windows that move – typically DOOR windows. Your G90 has 4 door windows with 4 regulators. The rear windshield is bonded body glass with no moving parts. You likely need a door window regulator – specify which door.

How do I know which door window regulator I need?

Identify by symptom location: (1) Which window doesn’t work? Front driver, front passenger, rear driver, or rear passenger? (2) The non-working window indicates which door regulator needs replacement. Note: some G90 systems have one-touch up/down on driver door only (different regulator/switch) vs simpler regulators on other doors. Specify exact door at order. We typically see most failures on driver door (most frequently used) and rear driver door (less commonly used can also fail from infrequent operation actually causing wear).

What's the difference between G90 and Hyundai Equus?

They’re related vehicles spanning the Genesis brand transition. Hyundai Equus was sold US 2011-2016 as Hyundai’s flagship luxury sedan (briefly ‘Hyundai Genesis Equus’ during brand transition). For 2017 when Genesis became separate brand, the Equus was replaced by the Genesis G90 as the new flagship. The G90 is the spiritual and platform successor to the Equus. Korean luxury flagship continuity preserved (Equus heritage in Korea goes back to 1999). Some components cross-reference between late Equus (2014-2016) and early G90 (2017-2019).

When did Genesis become a separate brand?

2017 model year. Hyundai created Genesis as a complete separate luxury division for 2017, following Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura model. Previously, the ‘Hyundai Genesis’ (2009-2016 sedan) and ‘Hyundai Equus’ (2011-2016 flagship) were Hyundai-branded luxury vehicles. For 2017, the Genesis brand launched with: G80 (former Hyundai Genesis), G90 (former Hyundai Equus successor), and later G70 (compact sedan 2019 US), then GV60/GV70/GV80 SUVs. Korean luxury competitor to BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Lexus.

How is G90 different from G80 and G70?

Genesis sedan size hierarchy: G70 = COMPACT luxury (BMW 3-Series competitor). G80 = MID-SIZE luxury (BMW 5-Series competitor). G90 = FULL-SIZE FLAGSHIP luxury (BMW 7-Series competitor). G90 is the largest and most premium Genesis sedan. The 3rd gen G90 2023+ features the most distinctive Genesis styling with ‘two-line’ lighting that defines modern Genesis visual identity. Window regulators differ between G70/G80/G90 due to different door sizes and configurations.

How do I install a door window regulator?

Moderate work, body shop recommended: (1) Disconnect battery negative. (2) Remove door panel (multiple screws/clips). (3) Remove vapor barrier. (4) Disconnect window switch electrical. (5) Lower window to access glass attachment to regulator. (6) Disconnect glass from regulator (typically clips or bolts). (7) Tape glass in up position or remove from door. (8) Remove regulator mounting bolts (usually 4-6). (9) Maneuver old regulator out through door opening. (10) Install new regulator in reverse. (11) Reconnect glass to regulator. (12) Test operation BEFORE reassembling panel (much harder to access if it doesn’t work). (13) Reassemble door panel. 2-4 hours per door.

My rear window won't move. Is this a regulator issue?

Depends on which rear window. (1) Rear WINDSHIELD (back glass behind rear passenger seats) – this is FIXED body glass on G90 sedan, it cannot move and has no regulator. If you think this is moving or want it to move, you’re looking at the wrong vehicle (the G90 doesn’t have this feature). (2) Rear DOOR windows (in the rear passenger doors) – these DO have regulators and can fail. If the rear door window doesn’t operate, you need a rear door window regulator. Specify driver-side or passenger-side rear door.

How does shipping work?

Free shipping to all 50 US states. Window regulator weighs 5-10 lbs in padded box. UPS or FedEx Ground. 3-7 business days. Bubble wrap, motor and cable mechanism protected to prevent damage in transit.
