This is the P300e, the plug-in hybrid powertrain for the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It combines a 1.5L three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with an 80 kW electric motor on the rear axle and a 15 kWh lithium-ion battery located beneath the rear seats, forming a transversely mounted system with an 8-speed automatic and intelligent all-wheel drive. The electric motor drives the rear axle without a mechanical driveshaft, the plug-in battery supports up to 34 miles of electric-only running, and the combined output is about 309 PS (305 hp) and 540 Nm. The gasoline engine is a real combustion engine running on gasoline; the electric side adds quiet launches, energy recovery, and plug-in charging.
